Sorry for there resend but the subject line got truncated.

Does anyne know of any cable systems that carry unprocessed ATSC signals
from head-end to the end-ueser's HDTV set? Has this ever been tried?

Thanks and regards,

Dear PJF,

No cable systems. If nothing else they have to monkey with the tier mask for
what level of service it would fall under, requiring a frequency change at
the least. It may be channel 101 over the air, but in the head end it's XXX
or whatever they want to call it. That means modulation and remodulation,
like anything coming out the head end, on to the trunk, the feeder, the drop
and home. It also means local commercial insertion every 15 minutes, most at
ear splitting volumes compared to the programming volume. You will never see
unadulterated feed, unless you are sitting in the head end, watching it
straight off the transponder.

Once you've seen Dan Rather pick his nose for 28 seconds, what's left
anyway?--og
