Panasonic DVD recorder recording digital cable?

I have a Panasonic DMR-E55 and really like it. It records great off regular
cable TV but I was reading the book tonight and it said it would not record
digital signals. We are going to be getting a new digital HDTV box in a few
weeks, does this mean that my recorder will not record off of it since it is
a digital cable box?

No, it just means it will not digitally record the digital cable, only
through the analog A/V connections, and at that only SD channels or
downconverted HD.
