Just a question if someone knows, If I were to purchase a digital box
from Ebay, to add to one of my other TVs. Do I have to inform Comcast
that I have another cable box, or is it plug and play.

Also if it is plug and play, will I receive the same premium channels I
subscribe to, or are the premium channels limited to the Serial # or
whatever # of my original cable box

Hope someone can clear this up for me.

Thanks

Comcast would need to know the serial and address numbers to authorize
the box.

It's not p'n'p, if the box were authorized it would get what you pay
for.

All that being said, do not buy any box on ebay before getting the
serial number and asking your local system if you can have it put on
your account. Most boxes on eBay are unreturned company equipment, and
cannot be used anywhere but the system it came from, and that system
still owns it so you would take over it's rental, and any stored pay
per views stacked up in it will be billed to you.

The DCP501s showing up on eBay are legit customer owned equipment and
should have no issues. But those 6412 DVRs? Don't bother.
